Featuring a giant comic book and live-action mascots, the Hong Kong float was greeted enthusiastically by around half a million people who lined London’s streets on 9 November. Millions more around the world watched the parade on TV. The Lord Mayor’s Show, which was first held in 1215, celebrates the swearing-in of the new Lord Mayor of the City of London. This year’s Lord Mayor is Alderman Fiona Woolf.
